Why Pigs Are Haram (according to my sister)
| Sis: | So do you know why we (Muslims) can't eat pigs? |
| Sis: | Apparently it's not because they're dirty. |
| Sis: | It's 'coz they're 99% genetically identical to humans. |
| Me: | They're more similar to humans than chimpanzees. Genetically that is. |
| Me: | That's why doctors can do porcine heart valve transplants. |
| Sis: | Yeah. So if we eat pigs, that'd be like- cannibalism. |
| Mum: | It's because God says so. |
